Claudia Pollinger is both co-owner and chef at The Owl. Always having had a passion for cooking and above all baking, The Owl promises to be an ideal outlet for her work. A self-taught chef, her first job in a kitchen was when she opened a café in Goa in 1993. From there she was offered the job of cooking for the Regents Park theatre and she moved back to London. There she worked as a pastry chef for Anthony Worrall Thompson, for Giraffe and a cheesecake company before becoming head chef of Model Catering.
Always an avid traveller, she moved to North Corfu with her husband and co-chef, Ben Philo in 2002. There they set up and ran an event catering business for tourists and locals alike and were proud to cater in some of the most beautiful villas and destinations on the island. In the winter months, they ran a small, luxury restaurant in their converted olive press in the hills.
Now in Norfolk for personal family reasons, Claudia is so excited to have found The Owl into which she can pour her culinary passion and showcase her eclectic style. Having lived in Hong Kong and India, she specialises in Asian food of all kinds as well as bread and cakes, both traditional and exotic. The menu at The Owl has been carefully crafted to offer customers a balance of wholesome English dishes and also a range of her own personal favourites which are fast becoming best-sellers.
As partner in the business, Ben can be found anywhere at The Owl from the kitchen to the shop in his job as general fixer and organiser extraordinaire…
