After 34 years in one family, the Owl has now been passed on. Claudia Pollinger and Ben Philo re-launched this iconic café in April 2017, conscious of the responsibility that comes with success and history, of expectation and local sentiment. In renovating the interior we have worked on preserving the traditional feel of natural wood and Georgian architecture, adding splashes of colour and opening out the dining rooms to accommodate people in any combination. Claudia Pollinger is both co-owner and chef at The Owl. Always having had a passion for cooking and above all baking, The Owl is an ideal outlet for her work. A self-taught chef, her first job in a kitchen was when she opened a café in Goa in 1993. From there she was offered the job of cooking for the Regent's Park theatre and she moved back to London. There she worked as a pastry chef for Anthony Worrall Thompson, for Giraffe and a cheesecake company before becoming head chef of Model Catering.
