The Owl is perhaps the oldest tea room in Norfolk, established in 1929. Our inviting bakery displays all the homemade bread, cakes, cookies, quiches, sausage rolls & salads which we make every day on site. The cosy, Georgian interior dining room offers a wide-ranging menu of teas, coffees, cakes, lunches & afternoon cream teas. We also serve local handmade ice cream & milkshakes & are fully licensed. Full Afternoon Tea is by advance reservation only. Our lovely spacious courtyard garden is a dog-friendly sun trap & very popular, as are our pavement tables in front of the shop. It's hard not to find something to treat yourself to & we look forward to serving you! Dogs can only be accommodated in the garden or at the pavement tables.

The Owl Tea Rooms is probably the oldest tea room in Norfolk, based in the North Norfolk historic town of Holt. Traditional homemade cakes and pastries available to eat in or takeaway from our bakery. Spacious, licensed tea garden and dining room serving breakfast, lunch and tea. Afternoon Tea a speciality. Dogs can only be accommodated in the garden or at the pavement tables.

They really understand flavours at this tearoom and thought has gone into everything from the humble breakfast bacon sandwich (made with local treacle cured bacon), to the delectable lunches and an array of homemade cakes. Tea is a passion for the team...

Tea Rooms

The Owl is a very special place as it is arguably the oldest tea room in Norfolk. It changed hands at the start of 2017 and we, as the new owners, have done our very best to embrace and preserve the long-held traditions of this iconic bakery and café, whilst easing it into the 21st century with additional, new and exciting specialities.

Claudia Pollinger and Ben Philo

Claudia Pollinger is both co-owner and chef at The Owl. Always having had a passion for cooking and above all baking, The Owl promises to be an ideal outlet for her work. A self-taught chef, her first job in a kitchen was when she opened a café in Goa in 1993. From there she was offered the job of cooking for the Regents Park theatre and she moved back to London. There she worked as a pastry chef for Anthony Worrall Thompson, for Giraffe and a cheesecake company before becoming head chef of Model Catering.
